Good afternoon Art Campers! How did you find your drawing workshop this morning? I hope you enjoyed it and made some interesting eyes! This afternoon we are going to use all our creativity and everything we have learned this week to make some beautiful eye inspired art!

Parent Note: If you have young children, you can obviously help them with setting up a project, or set the perimeters for them. If you are struggling, feel free to send me an email or grab me on Facebook, and I will gladly help!

Create Your Project!

This is a project that is totally up to you to create!

I would like you to use all your artistic prowess to create a piece of art that is based around an eye or eyes!

This could be a big painting, a collage, a clay sculpture, a mixed media work, a piece that includes words, a small, detailed watercolour… whatever you want to make, you can make it!

Here are some steps to help you get started –

  1. Decide what you want to make (this might be step 2)
  2. Choose your inspiration, if you need one (this might be step 1)
  3. Choose your materials
  4. Choose your colours
  5. Gather everything you need
  6. Do your prep work – do you need to draw your eye or eyes out? Or roll your clay?
  7. Start building up your picture or sculpture slowly – don’t try to do everything all at once!
  8. Carry on building your work – add colour, texture, shape…
  9. Remember to express yourself, try to feel your painting out, instead of trying to make it perfect!
  10. Use your artist inspirations, drawing workshops, and anything else we have worked on this week that will help!
  11. Ask your parents, carer, siblings or friends for advice if you get stuck! You can ask your grown ups to ask me for help too!
  12.  Finish up your work (don’t worry if it takes a few days or longer!) and celebrate it in all its glory!
P.S. I would love to see it!!

Something Different: Photo Project

This is probably a project for older kids and adults – but if you or your children enjoy photography, here is an idea for you!

Use your camera or phone to make pictures of eyes. Perhaps you could take a picture of all the eyes in your family? What about including your pets? Maybe you could take pictures of your own eyes for a period of time…

Experiment with black and white photography, different lights (outdoor and artificial light produce very different effects), and the different ways you can edit your pictures after taking them…

Print your pictures and put them in your journal. Maybe you could get some printed bigger?

A Little Light Reading

I can’t find the author of this little ditty, but here goes

My Eyes

Open them, shut them

Open them, shut them,

Give them a little week.

Open them, shut them

Open them, shut them,

Paint them all in Pink.

  • Draw eyes on your page, and colour the irises in different colours and patterns…
  • Make a rainbow eye, or a rainbow of eyes!
  • Write about what you can see right now…
  • Write a poem about eyes, your eyes specifically, or about seeing things…. Try an acrostic… E Y E S
  • What do you see in other people’s eyes?
Write and draw in your journal, reflecting on your day and week…

Tomorrow is a catch up day, and Sunday we have a special task to do… see you then!
